Deck safety is a primary concern at SimpleSide Construction OBX. We want any deck or porch we build to be a safe place for you and your family. Your warranty term begins on the date of your final payment.
At the completion of your deck, we submit all necessary documentation for your manufacturer warranty. You will receive your warranty packet from them directly. If you have a material issue, you will contact them first to start the warranty claim process. As a premier installer for TimberTech, you can rest assured knowing that the labor is taken care of to repair any covered manufacturer defect as well. Should any problems occur during your workmanship warranty period please follow these steps to open a claim with us:
- Complete the claim form
- Take pictures of problem areas
- Submit the form and photos to SimpleSide Construction OBX via this page
Please refer to the original terms and conditions in the contract for definition of your warranty. Warranty exclusions are defects in wood caused by the ‘weathering’ of wood, including but not limited to raised grain, splitting, checking, twisting, warping, shrinkage, swelling, color change or any other physical property of wood.
Furthermore, misuse of products, damage caused by natural disasters, improper care and maintenance are also excluded from workmanship warranty. Warranty shall be void on products originally installed by SimpleSide Construction OBX, but subsequently repaired by others.
*Please note, if a trip to your home for the warranty claim is performed and the issue is not warrantable, a service charge of $75.00 could be charged.

Smiple Side Widows and Construction has made my house into a home. With their handcrafted decks, they made my deck beautiful. Great workmanship as they installed my windows , did the underpinning and deck.
My house needed some TLC and Smiple Side construction has done just that!
From the 1st meeting, I really appreciated that I was send a video and introduced to the person who I was to meet. He told me about what we would discuss and it was nice to see who was coming to my house.
The team as a whole made me feel like I was surrounded by angels.
Everything went smoothly, each day was a good day as the crew worked on my house.
I received daily progress reports with pictures.
I can't say enough on the great care that the crew took on making my home safe and beautiful.
The forman was on whatever was needed for the day and the emergencies that came up, such as water pipes leaking. He called his plumber Greg White ,who came out in no time to take care of it. So definitely I was surrounded by angels.
I wouldn't hesitate to call Smiple Side construction.
It's so good to know that I have reliable people that I can depend on and know that I will be in good hands.

The design phase was very helpful and informative to help us completely understand the work and the final product. Simpleside was a pleasure to work with. The project manager, Colin, was personable, responsive, and always willing to answer questions or address any concerns.
They replaced and extended my deck and also turned two windows into a sliding door. We are very happy with the finished results.

Simpleside did an amazing job on my deck. They tore down a very old 2 story deck and replaced it with an expanded single story composite deck. The team is highly communicative and started and completed the work when they said they would. I’d recommend them to anyone.

I contracted with Simpleside Construction to reside my home with CertainTeed Cedar Impressions, complete replacement of top deck, replacement of all exterior stairs, replacement of all deck railings on the house and replacement of lattice wall on one side of the house.
While receiving quotes for the work, Grant showed strong knowledge of the tasking and was very responsive in answering my questions and provided excellent ideas for us to consider. Quoted pricing was in line with other quotes received. Not the cheapest but definitely with the value added.
The project manager, Colin, was responsive throughout the entire project. The work is of excellent quality and we are very pleased with the new look of our house.

Without a doubt Grant and his team are the best. I could repeat everything everyone else has said - but just read them. I wish every contractor or service provider I had to deal with were as professional and responsive as these guys. Colin was our project manager and he definitely went the extra mile to make sure we were 100% satisfied. Would definitely recommend them (and already have) and use them again.

Awesome experience working with Grant and his team! We had an under house carport converted into an enclosed, 2 car garage (vertical layout), including a garage door w/opener, insulated drywall and a climate controlled mini split heat/air. Very reasonable pricing, and quality workmanship by all involved. Grant’s project manager, Hank, was a pleasure to work with. He kept things running smoothly, and he was very patient answering our questions and concerns. He always responded in a timely manner. We hired Simpleside to replace our home's aging deck and windows. Grant was very helpful with his initial consultations and video presentation to refine the details of the project according to our budget and style. Once the project began, the crew built a high quality product in short order. Gretchen was very friendly and personable, keeping us informed of daily progress with emails and pictures. She was incredible with continuous communications that really created an easy and efficient overall process. My husband and I have been involved in multiple construction projects of various sizes over the years. By far, the interaction with Simpleside was the best construction experience we have ever had. They did what the said they were going to do, when they said they were going to do it. The project was on time and within budget. Simpleside OBX is simply the best contractor out there in OBX. After having spent awhile searching for a good quality contractor I happen to connect with Grant over email and soon after a quick phone call, I knew that I found a consummate professional.
Grant is easy to work with and thorough in his interactions which made me feel comfortable. I replaced aged decks and extended roof on both decks involving some creative thinking for the stairs. I felt so happy to have found them and was glad they were able to accommodate my job during March and April. Grant has a great PM in Gretchen who is so good with updates and communication. SimpleSide recently completed a full renovation of our "beach box" second home in Kill Devil Hills. They did an amazing job inside and out and the house looks and feels brand new. Grant is very knowledgeable and personable. He and Gretchen were wonderful to work with, and were very responsive and communicative throughout the entire process. We live a few hours away, so it felt great to be involved in the process from afar and to be kept informed along the way, when we couldn't be there in person. The communication portal they use is great for viewing progress photos, summaries of work completed, and communication. Gretchen was awesome for helping with the selection of materials and finishes and also answering questions quickly. Their quote for this work was competitive with other quotes we received, and we felt better about SimpleSide from the start. All around, this was a great experience, and we would not hesitate to work with SimpleSide again the in the future, and will also enthusiastically recommend them to others who are in the market for a great contractor.

Grant and his crews worked on a remodel of our 1970s era saltbox in South Nags Head. The house was used as a rental for 40 years, and we wanted to transform it into our permanent home. To do that, we needed four changes: more closet space, parking underneath the house, converting a second floor master bedroom into an ocean view living area, and creating a new master bedroom. Working with an architect (Michael O'Steen), Grant and his crew at Simpleside Construction, we were able to accomplish all of those things. By raising the roof, we were able to add addition space on the second floor for a new master bedroom and walk-in closet, increasing our overall square footage from about 1000 to 1300. Our remodel included all new siding & roofing, replacing popcorn ceilings and walls, painting all walls, trim and ceilings, new flooring on the second floor, and a new covered front porch. Grant was helpful for us every step of the way, always making suggestions and providing insights on what might work or wouldn’t. The highlight was the new stairway in the existing living room that Grant built (before and after pix included). Throughout the process, he was patient and a good listener as we discussed potential changes and options. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him for any home remodeling or build project or use him again for our future projects.

We had Grant at SimpleSide Construction renovate our 1970s bathroom. Our bathroom floor was compromised due a leak from the previous owners so the renovation was much needed. Grant was prompt with his email and phone correspondence from the very beginning to the end of the project. He finished the project ahead of his timeline and communicated with us thoroughly throughout the project. Grant did a lot of the work himself, which I thought was very respectable. There were no hidden fees and our project came out as Grant had estimated at the beginning. 3 things that Grant did that really stood out to me: 1. The plumbers from another business accidentally hit our neighbor's mailbox when they came to install the plumbing. I called Grant and he came and fixed our neighbor's mailbox himself on a Sunday. 2. There were two small things I wanted fixed after the job was complete and paid for, and when I called Grant about them he came and fixed them himself the same day I called. 3. Every day throughout demolition and painting, Grant came to check in on the work and sweep up at the end of the day. Our bathroom went from a rotted 1970s mess to an awesome, durable, clean bathroom that we LOVE! We highly recommend Grant and SimpleSide Construction and will definitely be using them again!
